Medical Genetics Fellow

• This position contributes to the Center for Human Genetics Laboratory through:
     Develop and perform complex methods of genetic analysis, problem solving, and interpretation of diagnostic laboratory results.
     Trouble shooting and problem-solving directed toward laboratory methods that are not working properly.
     Test development of new clinical protocols.
     Participate in interpretation of test results and preparation of reports under supervision of lab director.
     Understand principles of laboratory information systems and data integrity.
     Review and participate in laboratory proficiency and regulatory certifications, biological, chemical, and radiation safety training and maintenance standards, laboratory inventory, record keeping, and compliance with HIPPA regulations.
• This position leads to qualification for certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics in one or more areas of Clinical Laboratory Genetics.
