About the Job

Position Summary:
The Assistant Director, Catalog & Curriculum Management has administrative authority (supervision and management) and provides leadership for the catalog & curriculum management team which includes oversight of the following areas: uAchieve (CollegeSource) and Academic Advisement (PeopleSoft) degree audit systems, Transfer Evaluation System (TES) and Transferology, and Coursedog course management. This position serves on the OTR leadership team.The Assistant Director is responsible for accurately and professionally representing OTR and Academic Support Resources; actively seeking opportunities for business process improvements; and successful management of the team and its portfolio. This position annually sets goals and priorities and addresses business problems to ensure that catalog and curriculum best practices meet the needs of key constituency groups and are in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. This position serves as a systemwide resource for course management, transfer articulation and degree audits and supports curriculum and institutional policy development through tools such as Coursedog and the degree audit systems. This position is located on East Bank. The position is remote/hybrid. (All supervisors in ASR have a rotating supervisor on campus, and they are coming in once or twice a quarter).

Academic Support Resources supports hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Work arrangements are determined in coordination with supervisors depending on the nature of the unit and position. The arrangement for this position will be determined upon hire between employee and supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

Leadership and Management: (50%)
* Oversee, provide leadership for, and support the needs of the Catalog & Curriculum Management team in the Office of the Registrar.
* Responsible for the direct supervision of 6-8 business/systems analysts including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management/evaluations, coaching; and making promotion, award, termination, and disciplinary actions.
* Ensure adequate coverage in daily operations and establish/adjust work priorities, assignments, and deadlines for staff in coordination with team leads.
* Determine and align staff work, distribution of work, and goals with overall OTR and ASR strategies and goals.
* Establish team priorities.
* Evaluate team efficiency and effectiveness.
* Establish and maintain standards for team activities, including process documentation, business requirements, process mapping, testing, customer service, and support.
* Serve as an escalation path for issues requiring professional judgement and individual discretion.
* Serve as a member of the OTR leadership team.
* Help set OTR objectives, determine strategies, and develop procedures to support student success.

Support University, ASR, and OTR strategic goals and objectives. Enterprise Application Services (40%)
* Catalog Management (degree audit functionality)
* Develop technical strategy for continued degree audit improvement/enhancements.
* Serve as a system-wide resource for degree audit functionality.
* Oversee the resolution of degree audit production issues in coordination with the team leads.
* Develop short-, medium-, and long-range plans for degree audit work, including business process improvements and resource planning in coordination with the teams and Associate Director.
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with degree audit vendors and advocate for University of Minnesota needs.
* Curriculum Management (transfer evaluation and course setup)
* Oversee transfer evaluation business relationships with internal (e.g., UMN Office of Admissions) and external groups (e.g., MNSCU).
* Develop short-, medium-, and long-range plans for transfer evaluation work, including business process improvements and resource planning in coordination with the team and Associate Director.
* Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with transfer evaluation system vendor and advocate for University of Minnesota needs.
* Coordinate course/class setup process improvements and/or enhancements with other ASR units (IT and Classroom Management).

Outreach and Liaison: (10%)
* Support the University's efforts in promoting retention and four-year graduation for undergraduate students.
* Support the University's efforts in improving graduate and professional retention, persistence, and graduation rates. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with system-wide administrators and department and college leaders.
* Coordinate enterprise system implementation and enhancements with other functional areas (e.g., ASR-IT, Application Development, Data Engineering) and product owners.
* Represent ASR and the Office of Undergraduate Education on campus and systemwide committees.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS plus at least six years of relevant professional experience, or master's degree plus at least four years of experience.
* Prior experience leading, coaching, and developing technology-focused teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Core Competencies):
* Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate others.
* Prior experience with degree audit, transfer evaluation, and curriculum management systems.
* Prior experience working with student records and interpreting policies.
* Strong conceptual, analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to effectively communicate technology concepts with technically proficient and non-technically proficient individuals.
* Progressively more responsible work experience in supporting information technology in a large, matrixed environment.
* Ability to understand and analyze data.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range:$102,000 - $107,500;depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
