*Job Title: Lead Aerospace Simulation Engineer* Job Description The Lead Aerospace Simulation Engineer will be responsible for the planning, scoping, design, architecture, integration, and implementation of aircraft simulation solutions for a variety of aircraft simulation tasks. This role involves leading the development of technical content for bids and proposals, designing and developing both hardware and software solutions, and ensuring timely project completion.
Responsibilities * Lead the design and architecture of technical solutions, considering both hardware and software aspects along with virtual and/or mixed-reality components. * Develop and maintain work breakdown structures and schedule planning for technical development work. * Analyze customer requirements and design software solutions that align with both customer needs and company's long-term strategic goals. * Develop cross-platform applications using C/C++ and integrate software components into a fully functional system. * Develop and iteratively improve flight dynamics simulations using various frameworks based on aircraft performance data and pilot input. * Implement software in accordance with design specifications and company standards. * Create and update design documents, master feature lists, and other necessary documentation. * Perform troubleshooting, testing, and debugging of software to ensure high-quality deliverables. * Coordinate test planning and execution, including feature and integration testing with partner companies. * Assist with test procedures and documentation to meet software system requirements. Essential Skills * 10+ years of software engineering experience. * Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent. * Experience in programming with C/C++. * Experience with empirical and numerical simulation of aircraft and/or mechanical systems. * Strong understanding of software engineering principles and ability to apply them. * Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. * Ability to work effectively under pressure and within a team-oriented environment. * Ability to obtain government security clearance. Additional Skills & Qualifications * 15+ years of experience preferred. * Master's or Doctoral degree preferred. * Experience designing and developing virtual and mixed-reality software. * Experience with various software development and management methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.). * Experience with software configuration management tools (Git, Mercurial, SVN, etc.). * Experience with game engines and flight simulation frameworks (e.g., Unreal, VBS, VRSG, MSFS, Prepar3D, X-Plane). * Experience programming for multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux/Unix, Android). * Experience with network interface communication requirements including UDP and TCP/IP. * Interest and experience in flight and flight simulation. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr. Vertex offers medical, dental, vision and paid time off to include paid federal holidays and time off.
