Description

The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing healthcare services to patients in the hospital and clinic, under the direction and responsibility of physician(s).

This is a full-time, exempt position that will support both our Edina Clinic and Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

Colon & Rectal Surgery Associates is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.


Essential Functions:

  • Attend to hospital specific duties as assigned. For example, round on inpatients and attend to requests for a consult.
  • Assist surgeon in operating room (e.g., pre-surgery planning, position patient in O.R., check for proper instruments, assist in surgical procedure, close wound, remove patient)
  • Attend to patients in the clinic as assigned. This could include independent visits and/or assisting physician(s) as necessary (e.g., room and prep patients; order images; compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination) Implement patient management plans, record progress, and assist in provision of care
  • Respond to patient phone messages
  • Prescribe medications
  • Follow all Colon & Rectal Surgery standards
  • Plans, communicates, and manages schedule changes to minimize negative impact on patient care
  • Any and all other duties as assigned


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • NCCPA certification
  • Minnesota Board of Medical Practice registration/license
  • DEA registration
  • Experience with NextGen EHR preferred
  • BLS/CPR Certified

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)

  • Work in the clinic, office or surgery center during business hours
  • Travel independently throughout the clinic, office or surgery center (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
  • Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
  • Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
  • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Understand and execute a variety of instructions
  • Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Travel to other work locations, if required
