Position description

Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist - Lim lab

Highly motivated candidate interested in conducting basic science research with a focus on studying the molecular mechanisms of RNA mediated regulation of brain development. The candidate would be working on mouse and stem cell-based models to study non-coding RNA mediated regulation of neuronal development.

This full-time position will involve working closely with the PI as well as members of the laboratory. The candidate expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities but will not have teaching responsibilities. This include managing stocks and supplies in the lab, independent literature research and presentations at the regular lab and departmental meetings. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions and may participate in University and Public Service.

Required Qualification:



  • Specialist appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a Master's degree or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience.
  • Specialist appointed at the Associate rank must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant
    specialization.
  • Specialists appointed at the Full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.
  • Good communication skills are essential.


Preferred Qualification:



  • The ideal candidate should also have extensive experience in conducting experiments in mice.
  • Ideally, the candidate should be knowledgeable in molecular biology (RNA biology), stem cell based neural cultures and microscopy.
  • This position is ideally suited for an individual with strong molecular biology experience who is looking to gain further research experience on the way to further career development.
