Job Description

RaIS team within VAS (Value added Services) organization is looking for curious, creative, and talented technologists to join our team. This position is ideal for an experienced engineering leader who is passionate about collaborating with business and technology partners and engineers to solve challenging business problems. You will be a key driver in the effort to define the shared strategic vision for the RaIS development team and defining tools and services that safeguard Visa's payment systems.

The right candidate will possess strong software engineering background, with demonstrated experience in driving technical architecture, design and delivery of products and services that have created business value and delivered impact within the payments or payments risk domain or similar industries. A successful candidate is a technical leader with the ability to engage in high bandwidth conversations with business and technology partners and be able to think broadly about Visa's business and drive solutions that will enhance the safety and integrity of Visa's payment ecosystem.

Essential Functions

  • As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering in Risk and Identity Solutions leadership team, you will lead an engineering team and initiatives to architect, enhance, and build next generation products in an agile development environment
  • Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner
  • Drive projects that involve full stack development using Java, Spring, Microservices, Rest based APIs, frontend frameworks like ReactJS and Spark/Scala based processing on Hadoop platform
  • Drive solution architecture and technical architecture with product owners, engineers, and technical product managers to scale products to highly functional, secure, performant and resilient platforms
  • Lead your development team on projects and be responsible for end-to-end execution and delivery to KPIs on roadmap commitments
  • Excel in partnership with technical product managers, project managers and product leaders on requirements workshops and grooming, and help define joint product/technology roadmap
  • Drive release planning exercise, track development and testing to timely releases
  • Contribute to financial planning and roadmap planning for new and existing initiatives
  • Collaborate across engineering teams and leaders in VAS, Operations, and Infrastructure (O&I), security and platform teams.
  • Enable and inspire your team to an innovation mindset, high levels of engagement and performance
  • Develop a culture of high levels of accountability and ownership with the team
  • Establish metrics and attain high scores on engineering, delivery excellence, and product performance
  • Communicate for success with partners in program management, product office, operations, and other stakeholders
  • Develop and measure design, code governance and delivery practices to achieve consistent high-quality releases
  • Coach/Mentor/Grow engineers and performance management
  • Hire top software engineers and help build a highly talented engineering organization
  • Manage one or multiple projects and initiatives with competing timelines and demands.
  • Act decisively on continuous improvements to processes/tools for better developer efficiency and productivity
  • Lead product development with engineering teams across multiple orgs and geographies

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three days a week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs"

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Experience in roadmap planning and execution to roadmap and KPIs, and measuring performance of development teams. While you'll have the skill to understand the big picture, you're able to stay focused on the task at hand to achieve immediate goals
  • Technically savvy and have deep understanding about system architecture and design best practices from building client facing high performant systems with high SLAs
  • Experience with translating business requirements into technical designs.
  • Be flexible to adapt to changing directions and priorities. Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity.
  • Experience leading full stack development, using some of these technologies- Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, React JS, JavaScript, MongoDB, Maven, and Design Patterns, Test Automation framework
  • Be passionate about delivering zero defect code that meet or exceed the proposed defect SLA and have high sense of accountability for quality and timeliness of one's own deliverables and team deliverables
  • Have great work ethics, and be a team player striving to bring the best results as a team
  • Experience leading development with engineers and teams in multiple geographical locations and time zones
  • Experience leading, coaching, and growing engineering teams. Be empathetic to understand engineers
  • Experience conducting technical interviews and hiring top engineering talent
  • Past experience leading AWS based hybrid solutions is preferred
  • Experience in unit testing frameworks, functional testing processes, test management and automated testing tools
  • Experience in docker and Kubernetes based deployments and platforms
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools is preferred
  • Experience in Payments platforms is preferred
Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 152,200.00 to 220,850.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
