Custom Mold & Design, a Velosity Company is hiring a Senior Project Engineer on 1st shift to support our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN. This position is responsible for overseeing machining operations, coordinating projects, and ensuring that production goals, quality standards, and cost objectives are met. This role involves managing cross-functional teams, optimizing manufacturing processes, and working closely with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to drive efficiency and continuous improvement. The typical pay range for this role: $91,020 - $120,000 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, internal equity and other relevant factors. Qualifications:
- Technical Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in machining, CNC programming, or manufacturing management.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, GD&T, and CAD/CAM software.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Essential Duties:
- Project & Program Management:
- Plan, execute, and oversee machining projects from concept to completion.
- Develop timelines, budgets, and resource plans to meet production goals.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure project success.
- Machining Operations Management:
- Supervise CNC and conventional machining processes, ensuring adherence to technical requirements.
- Oversee tool selection, machining parameters, and workflow optimization.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure machining processes comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to minimize defects and rework.
- Work with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and mentor machinists, engineers, and other team members.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Provide training and development opportunities for the machining team.
- Cost & Resource Management:
- Monitor and manage costs related to machining projects and operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
- Optimize machine utilization and minimize downtime.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as the main point of contact for machining-related projects and initiatives.
- Work closely with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to align machining capabilities with product requirements.
- Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned
Work Conditions & Physical Demands: This is a non-smoking, professional tool shop with normal lighting, climate control. The shop environment may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in a tool making and/or molding shop. Physical & Mental Demands:
