SUMMARY

To apply advanced metrology knowledge and expertise in precision measurement, calibration, and testing to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and reliability across all measurement processes. Leverage extensive experience with complex metrology tools and techniques to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve measurement-related issues, contributing to continuous process improvement, quality assurance, and optimizing manufacturing operations. Provide technical leadership and support to cross-functional teams, driving consistent adherence to industry standards and best practices while solving complex measurement challenges efficiently and proactively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Interpret and apply complex drawings based on GD&T according to ASME Y14.5-2018 standards for part inspection and dimensional verification.
  1. Monitor and manage the scheduling system to prioritize tasks.
  2. Create the Initial Dimensional Measurement Plan (DMP) for new projects, ensuring that all part features and dimensions are clearly defined and measurable following GDT standards.
  3. Determine the most suitable measuring tool for each part based on factors such as size, material properties, and potential for warping.
  4. Manage and implement ballooning of technical drawings and ensure proper formatting for reporting purposes.
  5. Develop and optimize CMM programs for various dimensional inspection requests, including probe selection, part positioning, and the use of specialized fixtures and jigs to ensure optimal measurement accuracy.
  6. Utilize CMM software such as Calypso, Wenzel, and Hexagon.
  7. Employ 3D scanning technologies like ATOS GOM.
  8. Ensure optimal paint and application and dot placement for 3D scanning data acquisition.
  9. Analyze measurement data to identify and resolve discrepancies, applying advanced problem-solving skills to verify and correct features that fall outside of specified tolerances. Communicate findings clearly and provide corrective action recommendations.
  10. Conduct detailed reverse engineering processes to identify root causes of dimensional deviations, working cross-functionally to define and implement effective corrective actions.
  11. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop and optimize gauges and fixtures for efficient part inspection. Perform thorough inspections of these tools, including reverse engineering to resolve boundary and tolerance issues.
  12. Lead correlation studies to ensure alignment and compliance across measurement equipment, optimizing strategies and protocols to maintain consistency across varied tools and platforms.
  13. Engage with suppliers and customers on measurement correlation studies, identifying sources of inspection variation and ensuring accurate, consistent dimensional data.
  14. Generate comprehensive dimensional reports, including alignment checks, inspection results, and recommendations for drawing updates or design adjustments. Ensure detailed documentation for all measurements to maintain traceability and accuracy.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve measurement processes, proposing innovative solutions to optimize workflows, reduce measurement errors, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  16. Provide ongoing training to peer technicians and operators, ensuring they acquire the skills necessary to utilize advanced metrology tools and techniques effectively. (Cross Training)

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Perform routine maintenance on critical measurement equipment, including CMMs and ATOS Scanners, ensuring that all systems are in optimal working condition for continuous high-precision operations.

Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and optimization of measurement operations to increase throughput and quality.
