Data Science Expert / SME- (Quantico, VA)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Science Expert to provide advanced expertise and support for implementing Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) tools and capabilities. This role will require proficiency in a variety of data science platforms and the development of predictive models, leveraging Python, R, and other government-approved tools for analysis and deployment within the Marine Corps environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced data science techniques to solve complex problems and generate actionable insights using AI/ML.
  • Develop and deploy predictive models in both NIPRNET and SIPRNET environments, ensuring security and accuracy.
  • Utilize data science platforms such as Python, R, Anaconda, and Microsoft Power Platform to conduct analysis, model development, and deployment.
  • Conduct descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis using data from Marine Corps authoritative databases.
  • Develop and test up to five predictive models annually for implementation in real-world environments.
  • Provide data-driven, prescriptive recommendations based on analysis of training and education data.
  • Collaborate with ORSA analysts and other Marine Corps teams for data sharing and analysis.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in AI/ML and data science methodologies.
  • Communicate complex data science concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.



Required Qualifications:

  • Must be US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain federal clearance (Active clearance preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in data science principles and AI/ML techniques.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing AI/ML models.
  • Expertise with Python, R, Anaconda, and Microsoft Power Platform tools.
  • Experience with Jupiter/Advana capabilities (Databricks, Qlik).
  • Solid understanding of data processing, cleaning, and preparation for AI/ML model development.
  • Experience with deploying and managing AI/ML models in a production environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.


  • Experience in the government or defense sector.
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of AI/ML algorithms tailored to organizational needs.
  • Experience with database management, data warehousing, and advanced analytics.
  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
