Basic Function
LyondellBasell is staffing for the CVO Site Technical Manager for the Channelview, TX Manufacturing Complex, located 18 miles from downtown Houston. Our 4,000-acre Channelview Complex consists of two olefin units at the north side facility that manufacture ethylene, propylene, butadiene and benzene. The south side facility uses many of these products to produce propylene oxide, styrene monomer and other derivatives.
As a member of the LyondellBasell Channelview Site Leadership Team, the Site Technical Manager is responsible to lead and supervise the Technical, Value Enhancement Program, Sustainability, Control Systems Engineering (CSE), and Quality Assurance groups for executing work in a safe, reliable, cost-efficient, and environmentally responsible manner to achieve site and company goals. They will collaborate with the Channelview Site Leadership Team to develop strategic plans, annual goals, drive gap closure efforts, and ensure alignment of plant activities with global manufacturing goals and the company strategic plan. They will participate on corporate teams to champion and implement corporate level strategic initiatives and goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver GoalZERO performance through strong leadership, employee/contractor engagement, and management systems
- Provide overall vision and guidance for the Technical organization by defining the strategic direction for Process Safety, Loss Prevention, Environmental compliance, and Engineering Discipline
- Translate and integrate Company and Site strategies into objectives and action plans; plan, organize, and measure goal progress toward achieving world-class results with a focus on low cost and operational excellence; implement changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes
- Collaborate with other Leadership Team members to develop and implement strategic initiatives to provide clear and consistent communication, leadership and strategies on issues that have sitewide impact
- Inspire and coach to optimize performance of people and processes (7 direct reports, 150 team members); develop and coach people via dialogue to continuously improve knowledge, skills, and ability insuring employees utilize Performance Management systems, including both performance and development discussions; hold people accountable; and develop successors and talent pools
- Collaborate and align with the Commercial, Operations Planning, and Logisitcs organizations for all businesses to meet demand commitments and identify opportunities to generate incremental value
- Participate and lead corporate initiatives and teams; be the site transformation lead for the Value Enhancement Program; develop work processes to support sustainability initiatives
- Ensure that the Code of Conduct and all other LyondellBasell policies are consistently followed and administered within the organization
Min. Qualifications
- Engineering BS degree or related fieldrequired
- Typically,15+ years of experience working in refining, petrochemical or chemical manufacturing
- Strong people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous formal leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of or experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, and engineering processes and procedures, business fundamentals, and shared service roles in manufacturing
- Excellent written / oral communication skills with the ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
- Sound working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and operational excellence standards
- Good grasp of standard business and financial metrics, budget processes and ability to convey information to those within their organization
