Description

The Metra Police Department (MPD) Social Worker plays a vital role in supporting individuals who utilize Metra services or are present on Metra property. Our dedicated Social Workers provide both direct assistance and behind-the-scenes support to those in need, addressing a wide range of challenges within the six-county Metra region.

Key areas of service include:

  • Short-term crisis intervention - Offering immediate emotional and practical support to individuals facing distressing situations.
  • Stabilization services for the unhoused - Connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with essential resources, shelter, and long-term assistance.
  • Victim services - Providing compassionate care and advocacy for those impacted by crime or traumatic events.

Beyond direct engagement, MPD Social Workers serve as a bridge between Metra and a vast network of social service organizations, ensuring individuals receive the appropriate care and support they need. They also collaborate closely with our municipal partners, working together to address shared concerns and enhance community well-being.

Through these efforts, the MPD Social Worker reinforces Metra's commitment to public safety, accessibility, and compassionate service for all who travel within our region.

The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications. Those with 8 years or more of required experience can expect offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential.
