Primary Function

APCOM's facility in Cookeville, Tennessee, manufactures threaded tank fittings "spuds", pipe nipples, gas burner assemblies, and also stamps a wide variety of parts for the water heater and appliance industries.TheCaretaker/Utilityposition is responsible for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition. The incumbent will perform light to heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and seasonal building upkeep.

Regularly Scheduled Hours:Monday - Friday, 6:00am- 2:30pm

Hourly Rate of Pay:$17.30/hour

Sign On Bonus Opportunity:$1500

  • $500 at 90th day of hire, $500 at 180th day of hire, $500 at 365th day of hire
  • Must not be on a corrective action for attendance to qualify for bonus payments

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
  • Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
  • Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
  • Carry cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Adhere to all safety and precautionary rules and guidelines set by the company and governmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Previous Housekeeping/Custodian work preferred
  • Ability to maintain an organized and clean working environment
  • Proficient Communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and superiors
  • Adequate English proficiency to read labels and follow precautionary instructions
  • Must be able to stand, bend, twist, push, pull, crouch, and reach for the majority of the working day and lift up to 30 lbs
