Summary of Position Functions

The manager will oversee and manage the design, implementation, and optimization of building automation systems that control various commercial systems including HVAC, lighting, and access control. The manager will be responsible for overseeing a technical team that provides timely delivery of energy-optimized control systems and associated software services. This includes managing project development, manpower, project schedules, customer interaction, periodic owner review sessions, progress reporting, and budget management.

Essential Position Functions

  • Assigns and manages project engineering and management tasks to direct reports.
  • Tracks team project progress and provides regular updates on team performance.
  • Participates in project development and cost estimation.
  • Responds to and rectifies customer or occupant issues in a timely manner.
  • Creates and manages project implementation schedules to deliver projects on time.
  • Communicates with customers to deliver a customer driven and quality product.
  • Communicates with internal project managers (i.e. other Veregy departments) and verifies project expectations and execution standards are met.
  • Oversees management of project budgets and reports on progress.
  • Refines management and process standards in coordination with other Technology team members.
  • Oversees quality of final close-out documentation and automation systems for customers.
  • Implements and maintains employee development and engagement activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the central region technology department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Veregy's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or five + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Computer software proficiency including Microsoft Project, Viewpoint, RS Means, Trimble Estimating and / or other job-related hardware and software applications that may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
