Add to favorites Favorited View favorites Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $27.21 - Midpoint: $35.35 (Hourly N9) Department/Organization: 208446 - UMC Psychiatry Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evenings/weekend hours as needed Job Summary: The RN I provides professional nursing care to patients. Reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct, assisted, or delegation to other staff. Additional Department Summary: Provides direct patient care to the highest degree of licensure. Participates in patient treatment and administers medications under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner and following documented treatment plans. Conducts intake screenings and evaluations. Administers and notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications, and provides education to patients regarding medications. Applies appropriate crisis intervention techniques and assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Required Minimum Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Alabama in good standing. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have a current CPR certification and have used an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role. Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical professional. Understanding of medical and behavioral health terminology, symptoms and behavior patterns of psychiatry/behavioral health patients. Ability to apply appropriate crisis intervention techniques with patients. Preferred Qualifications: Two years of psychiatric and/or behavioral health nursing experience. Previous experience administering crisis intervention techniques.
