Medical Assistant - Preventive Cardiology Clinic

Description

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care in the clinic and related administrative duties.

This is a full-time position working M-F from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm out of our Edina and Oakdale locations.

Preventive Cardiology Clinic is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.

Essential Functions:



  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit.
  • Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient's chart.
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
  • Monitor stress testing under appropriate supervision
  • Holter monitor placement
  • Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms.
  • Give instructions or results to patients as instructed by physician or nurse practitioner either in person or by phone/email/portal
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed and available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.).
  • Assist with prior authorizations
  • Any and all other duties as assigned


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or MLT program.

    • Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant (CNA); or equivalent experience strongly preferred


  • Clinic experience strongly preferred
  • Phlebotomy Experience preferred
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required
  • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments preferred

  • Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Travel to other work locations, if required
