The Office of Information Technology at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Senior Technology Infrastructure Project Manager. Working closely with the IT Director of Infrastructure Services, business stakeholders and several cross-functional teams, this individual will ensure that projects are delivered successfully and align with the Institution's healthcare, academic, and research objectives. The role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and technical expertise to deliver high-impact solutions that meet the highest standards of scalability, security, and compliance.

This is a technology leadership role that demands a confident, mature, and assertive individual who can take personal responsibility for project success and navigate many complex challenges and initiatives occurring simultaneously. The Senior Technology Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for delivering IT projects within scope, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will demonstrate self-management and personal accountability, driving projects to completion while maintaining the highest level of quality and compliance standards.

Purpose

The Senior Technology Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of critical IT infrastructure projects for Dell Medical School (DMS). This position will lead complex, enterprise-level infrastructure initiatives such as network upgrades, cloud application hosting, data migrations, identity management, and system integrations (e.g., Adobe, Rackspace, Cloud ESB, Azure Fabric).

Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of IT Infrastructure projects, from scoping and planning to execution and final delivery, ensuring that project objectives align with organizational and departmental goals.

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks and address issues promptly to ensure project success. Oversee the alignment and delivery of enterprise technologies from architecture/design, contracts, licenses, vendors, build/configure cycles, data migrations, integrations, testing, training, go-live and contingency planning, on through to operational handoffs.

  • Ensure all projects comply with organizational standards, business need, security and regulatory requirements.

  • Apply project management best practices (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) to achieve scalability, security, and operational excellence. Participate with PMO Director, other Project Managers, and the Office of CTO for total Portfolio Management, Road mapping, Planning, and Reporting out to Stakeholders.

Infrastructure Design and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with the Office of CTO, Cyber-Security and IT technical teams to design, plan, and deploy scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure solutions, including networking, cloud platforms (e.g., Rackspace), integration solutions (ESB), data migrations (Microsoft Fabric), and internet/intranet CMS platform technologies (Adobe)

  • Ensure technology solutions support the healthcare, academic, and research needs of the institution while ensuring smooth transitions during upgrades, migrations, and technology implementations.

  • Work with IT Director of Infrastructure to apply best practices that ensure infrastructure solutions are operationally efficient, secure, and compliant with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • For all assigned projects, serve as the primary liaison for clinical, research, and educational stakeholders - along with Technology and Business Leadership.

  • Facilitate clear communication across departments, providing regular updates to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Drive change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of new systems.

  • Foster collaborative engagement with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with both technical and business objectives.

Vendor and Resource Management:

  • Manage relationships with external product vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of services and adherence to contractual terms (SLAs).

  • Effectively allocate and manage internal and external resources to ensure optimal project delivery.

  • Participate in infrastructure technology procurement, contracting, implementation planning, technology licensing and budget management to ensure effective use of organizational resources.

Optimization & Support

  • Benchmark, monitor and evaluate project outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvements.

  • Facilitate the handoff of implemented technologies to operational support teams, ensuring operational success and compliance with service agreements.

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and ensure that all project milestones, decisions, and changes are accurately recorded.

Change Management and Process Improvement:

  • Drive change management efforts to ensure smooth implementation of new technologies, systems, and processes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure readiness and adoption of new IT infrastructure solutions.

  • Continuously evaluate and refine project processes to optimize outcomes, improve performance, and increase efficiency.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus and can be used to meet some of the experience requirements. Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.

  • Certain professional certifications specific to Information Technology Infrastructure, Integrations, Data, Identity & Access Management may be substituted for PMP Certification depending on alignment to Dell Medical school needs.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in information technology project management, with most of that experience managing IT infrastructure, network upgrades, integrations, identity management, data migrations, cloud implementations.

  • Strong background in academic medical center (AMC) environments or similar regulated sectors is a plus (e.g., healthcare, education, research).

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure concepts, including networking, data, virtualization, security, cloud platforms, and integration technologies.

  • Expertise in using project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira).

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience in presenting to executive audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on self-management and personal accountability.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications:

  • A Master's degree is a plus and can be used to meet some of the experience requirements.

  • ITIL, Agile, or other relevant certifications in IT service management and project management.

  • Cloud, Networking, Security and other relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Cisco, VMware).

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices in infrastructure projects.

  • Advanced knowledge of cloud platform technologies

  • Experience in implementing large-scale infrastructure solutions in healthcare IT or similar regulated environments.
