The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are seeking a Program Development Manager to join our Offsite Manufacturing team. This role will develop and execute a sales plan for identifying appropriate project opportunities in all applicable service offerings, and lead pursuit/bid development teams spanning sales, marketing, and technical teams. Additionally, responsibilities you will have include:

  • Manage the prospecting and sales process from opportunity targeting through booking and transition to operations.
  • Creates vertical market development plans with an initial focus on new customer acquisition in the data center market; make recommendations regarding actions, including cooperative selling efforts.
  • Identifies and participates in trade shows, social media and web conferences.
  • Creates speaking opportunities at organizations conferences and web platforms.
  • In coordination with leadership, act as the pursuit leader managing sales, marketing, and engineering/technical teams to develop winning proposals and bids.
  • Interfaces with marketing teams to develop and execute marketing initiatives and campaigns.
  • Coordinates with Business Unit Manager and Operations Director to ensure successful execution of projects.
  • Provides support to the customer with regards to projects financial, contractual and technical issues.
  • Coach and develop sales professionals.
  • Trains, mentors and manages staff in effective tactics to attain team goals.
  • Create performance plans, assess performance and provide performance feedback.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Experience selling to data center customers is preferred.
  • Experience selling and developing the modular, offsite construction approach for mechanical and/or electrical scopes of work is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of:
    • All phases of developing complex owner-direct design-build projects.
    • Offsite modular construction management and industry standards.
    • Customer business and financial models.
    • Design-Build contracting.
    • Contractual negotiations, procurement, and knowledge.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management or equivalent business experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals and estimates required.
  • Knowledge of building infrastructure mechanical and electrical systems required.
  • Ten (10) years of experience with a mechanical or electrical construction contractor required.
  • Five (5) years of experience leading sales teams and closing sales required.
  • Knowledge of conceptual estimating required.

The pay range for this position is $118,170 - $210,100 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
