Hear more from our team members about why UnityPoint Health is a great place to work at https://dayinthelife.unitypoint.org Overview Registered Nurse - Emergency Department - Lutheran UnityPoint Health Des Moines Shifts: Full-Time, 7a-7p Full-Time, 11a-11p Full-Time, 7p-7a Shift include every 4th weekend and holiday rotation Shift differentials available for qualifying shifts Benefits Eligible Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 paid over 2 years Providing fast-paced care to patients experiencing emergent illness, injury, and acute care illness for children and adults, specializing in behavioral health care. Collaborates with chemical dependency team and the behavioral health team to provide high-quality behavioral and mental health care in the emergency department. Responsibilities Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care. Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients. Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations. Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care. Demonstrates professional development by keeping abreast of current nursing practice and healthcare trends. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Qualifications: Current active Iowa License to practice as a RN. Minimum of six months RN experience. Prefer 2 years of hospital clinical experience, with at least 1 year of Emergency Department experience. . Prefer Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) ACLS and TNCC must be completed within 1 year of hire. For ILH and MWH Emergency Departments, PALS or ENPC must also be completed within 1 year of hire. Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) Department of Labor Level III (Medium) Work. Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work. ***PLEASE NOTE: All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.
