Position Description

Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Provide academic advising for undergraduate students on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, and degree completion
  • Attend departmental undergraduate meetings
  • Provides academic advising and counseling to undergraduate students, assist with problem solving, and refer to university resources
  • Provide academic advising to undergraduate students by analyzing student's career and academic goals, degree progress, deficiencies and test results, and by recommending appropriate course of action or referrals
  • Create academic plans in partnership with students during initial advising meetings utilizing College-approved curriculum guides, assessment results and academic planning and registration tool
  • Gain expertise in the curriculum and advising of an education degree
  • Review and update degree audits in a timely manner, including evaluate and determine the transfer of credits
  • Providing academic advising to all undergraduate, traditional students with academic and personal issues as they pertain to their enrollment at the University
  • Maintaining current knowledge of campus resources, critical dates, policies and procedures for undergraduate students

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with students and staff
