We are hiring an Underground Foreman at our Medford OR operation. In this role, you'll oversee crews and equipment for the installation and repair of piping systems on public and private heavy civil construction projects.

This is a union position with membership to the Operators or Laborers Union required after hire.



  • Union Scale Wage: $55.18 per hour
  • Benefits: Full union benefit package.


Major Job Responsibilities will include:



  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of pipe crew members, providing clear direction and guidance.
  • Read and interpret project specs and documents to plan work and ensure the quality of work meets project specifications.
  • Ensure required equipment is on the project and operated properly and safely.
  • Lead daily huddles to review equipment and safety expectations for the day's work.
  • Perform weekly toolbox talks, record and submit timely.
  • Complete and submit daily timecards for crew members accurately and timely.
  • Assess ability of new crew members and provide necessary task training.
  • Monitor progress of project and work with project team to make adjustments as needed to stay on schedule and on budget.
  • Address personnel issues, provide training, coaching and mentorship for crew members.
  • Create a safe work environment by adhering to company safety policies, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records for cost accounting, equipment utilization, maintenance requirements, inventory and submit timely as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes for efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Proven experience as underground foreman in construction industry.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate crew members in a safe and budget conscience manner.
  • Ability to read plans and specs.
  • Thorough understanding of trench and excavation safety requirements and state and federal regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of underground utility installation, knowing proper equipment and tools and labor to perform each task to include potable water, storm and sanitary-sewer of various pipe sizes and types, including compaction/backfill requirements and standards.
  • Basic mathematical skills and understanding of slopes and grades.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, with no major violations in past 3 years.
  • Ability to work a variable shift as needed.
  • Skilled equipment operator in heavy civil construction preferred.
