The Sleep Disorders Clinical Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, led by Dr. John Winkelman MD PhD, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Research Coordinator I to manage ongoing clinical studies and research projects. Our research is focused on sleep disorders, particularly Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), Insomnia, and Sleep Apnea. The Sleep Disorders Clinical Research Program seeks to improve the understanding of sleep disorders and the relationship of psychiatric disorders and sleep. We hope to translate these insights into improved treatments for these disorders. The clinical research coordinator will receive training and support from the outgoing clinical research coordinator, as well as guidance and supervision from the Principal Investigator, Dr. John Winkelman. We seek an enthusiastic candidate who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. The position offers significant learning opportunities for individuals interested in graduate studies in medical fields or psychology. It provides hands-on exposure to clinical research, patient interaction, and scientific writing in a leading medical research environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Coordinators are responsible for managing and coordinating the clinical studies as members of the research team. This involves screening patients for study eligibility, data entry and analysis, manuscript preparation, and other administrative tasks. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collecting & organizing patient data
  • Maintaining records and databases
  • Collaborating with various research colleagues within and outside of MGH
  • Using software programs to analyze and report data for manuscripts, presentations, etc.
  • Assisting with recruiting patients for clinical trials
  • Verifying accuracy of study forms
  • Documenting patient visits and procedures
  • Administering and scoring questionnaires
  • Providing basic explanation of study protocols and obtaining informed consent from subjects
  • Performing study procedures
  • Assisting with study regulatory submissions
  • Verifying subject inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Performing administrative support duties as required

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Careful attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Working knowledge of clinical research protocols
  • Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for subjects' rights and individual needs

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required

EXPERIENCE:

  • New graduates with some relevant course/project work or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position outlined above.
