Position Summary:
|
The Office Coordinator for Experiential Learning supports Cardozo's dynamic field clinic and externship programs, where students gain real-world legal training by representing clients, advancing impact litigation, shaping policy, and promoting community education. Field clinics partner with leading nonprofit and government organizations across New York City, while externships pair substantive legal work with a co-requisite seminar to enhance professional development. The Coordinator manages application and registration processes, serves as the primary contact for students and faculty, organizes events like the Clinic Fair, and collaborates with the Legal Clinics Program Coordinator to support programmatic facilitation and streamline administrative workflow for Cardozo's in-house clinics. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented individual passionate about social justice and the law.

Position Responsibilities:
|
- Point of contact for law students and faculty seeking clinical and field placement program information and assistance
- Responding to high-volume inquiries about the clinic and externship application/registration process
- Office correspondence and communications
- Marketing efforts to ensure student awareness of experiential programs
- Drafting announcements of clinic and externship updates for the weekly Career Services newsletter
- Update Cardozo website for clinics, field clinics, and externships, assist with data gathering and preparing reports for communications, admissions, risk management, and other law school departments
- Administrative support
- Plan, coordinate, and implement in-house clinic and field clinic application process, including updating and editing written application materials and course descriptions, planning and organizing information sessions and clinic fairs
- Receiving and processing applications, assisting with setting up student interviews, distributing application materials, overseeing and coordinating matching students with clinics, and communicating with students and faculty throughout the process
- Collaborate closely with the Legal Clinics Program Coordinator and other clinic staff to ensure smooth facilitation of administrative workflow and programmatic duties for the in-house clinics
- Under the guidance of the program director, perform outreach to field placement host employers about program goals and supervision requirements, to help ensure ABA compliance
- Coordination with the Dean's Office and adjunct faculty to develop course schedules and confirm classroom reservations
- Manage the clinical fellows' application processes
- Assist faculty with travel plans and conference registration
- Act as liaison with professional organizations, including AALS and CLEA
- Communicate with clinic and externship students and assist them as needed
- Provide additional backup administrative support to faculty
- Maintain Complex databases
- Registration: Facilitate placement of students in appropriate seminars and coordinate enrollment through the Registrar's Office
- Update, collect, and maintain required documents and databases
- Follow-up with externship and field clinic students regarding course requirement submissions (goals memos, MOU's, and end-of-term evaluations)
- Will liaise with many different individuals and offices in the law school including the clinic and other faculty, the Dean's office, Career services, clinic and externship students, office of admissions, the registrar's office, student services, communications, business affairs, and others

Experience & Educational Background:
|
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 3-5 years of experience required
- Prefer experience working in a law office and/or institution of higher education
|
Skills & Competencies:
|
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to draft clear and cogent written documents describing our programs, and emails to faculty, outside supervisors, and other entities with whom we work
- Must also possess excellent editing skills
- Must possess excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work independently and produce quality work from conception to completion on assigned projects
- Must possess strong knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- May use other Microsoft programs as assigned
- Must possess strong knowledge of other programs, including Adobe Acrobat, Symplicity, and Zoom
- The ability to quickly learn and become proficient in new software and technology is essential
- Must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a small office of diverse people and programs
- Strong attention to detail is required
- Must have the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient
- A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role
