POSTING: External - Open Competitive DEPARTMENT: Parks and Open Spaces HOURS: Various Temporary Seasonal 15-30 Hours/week, mid-April - late October PAY: $15.00-$17.00 / per hour DOQ LOCATION: Lebanon Hills Campground, Apple Valley, MN UNION: None CLOSE DATE: This posting will remain open until all available positions are filled. Campground Attendants are responsible for providing outstanding customer service to park guests including: Campground reservation assistance, campground guest check in duties, store item sales and providing information. This position will also be responsible for keeping the campground and facilities clean through custodial work including cleaning of restrooms, shower houses, litter, campsites, firepits and offices. Primary shift hours available seven days a week between 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. including holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

* 18 years of age or older AND * A valid driver's license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Previous work or volunteer experience in parks, campgrounds, camping, or customer service/hospitality industry. * Campground/RV work experience * Park and/or recreation work experience * Customer service or hospitality experience in a park/recreation setting * Computer experience with a complex reservations software system. * Custodial and/or maintenance experience * Experience working with diverse populations

Duties & Responsibilities

Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions. 1. Provide high-level customer service to ensure visitors receive accurate and appropriate information in a welcoming and timely manner. 2. Provide custodial and some maintenance services in a responsive manner, including but not limited to maintaining campground cleanliness, cleaning out firepits, and cleaning campground facilities including restroom. 3. Provide support in the operation of the campground in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the rules established by the Dakota County Parks Department. 4. Greet and interact with customers at assigned locations and facilities or over the phone. Quickly and competently facilitate their registration, fee collection, check-in, concession sales, and equipment rental. 5. Provide information about regional attractions, park facilities and rules. 6. Ensure the safety and security of the campground facility. Work with Park Patrol staff to educate guests about the campground rules and the Park Ordinance, enforcing the rules when necessary. 7. Follow cash handling and daily record keeping procedures. 8. Notify Park staff of facility repair, maintenance, and supply needs. 9. Comply with all operating policies and procedures established by Dakota County Parks Department. 10. Operate ATV, hand tools and other mechanical devices in a safe manner. 11. Perform other related duties as apparent or assigned.

Work Environment Work is performed inside and outside County buildings and in the campgrounds. The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of walking, standing, crouching, or riding over rough, uneven, swampy, or rocky terrain. Staff must also have the physical ability to bend, twist, crouch, lift, forward & overhead reach, and push/pull the rental & facility equipment, such as: full 5 gallon buckets, firewood bundles, or similar equipment which may weigh up to 30 lbs. This position may involve driving a County vehicle. There may also be intermittent exposure to varied weather conditions on the worksite that occasionally necessitates the use of rain gear, gloves, etc. Selection Process
