Overview of the Position:

The Retail Supervisor (Visual Merchandising Emphasis) is a key part of our retail management team. They assist store leadership to deliver exceptional brand and customer experiences, drives store sales, and increase profitability. Assist in executing prAna marketing and promotional directives that will increase sales and grow our existing customer base. In addition to the primary focus on sales and service, the Retail Supervisor opens and/or closes the store on assigned shifts and will have assigned responsibilities related to store operations that fall into the categories of product, visual merchandising, education, back-of-house operations, store environment, and marketing. In the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for management and leadership of the store and the team. Helps maintain high store standards and conditions while fostering a positive, inclusive, and inspiring environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for seasonal merchandising flips, weekly merchandising upkeep, communication with regional VM management, outfitting, and maintaining company-wide visual directives.

  • Delivers helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly service in person and other means such as phone or mobile devices, as per the prAna service standards.

  • Oversees sales floor operations and gives direction to the team to best serve our guests.

  • Gives clear, direct, and timely coaching feedback and communicates observations to the Store Manager.

  • Leads by example, constantly thriving to set a positive, customer-obsessed and motivating tone.

  • Responsible for one or more Division of Responsibilities (DOR's) within the store.

  • Handles all customer and staff concerns with poise and a respectful demeanor

  • Takes initiative to address issues that may arise during shifts and follows all prAna guidelines when rectifying them.

  • Store opening / closing duties involving cash handling, setting alarms, paperwork and checklist completion.

  • Follows all prAna safety & security guidelines while on shift

  • Welcomes prAna guests with a warm and genuine demeanor and strives to give them a friendly and educational experience while they're in the store.

  • Assist guests in finding merchandise and goes above and beyond to create an exceptional shopping experience; recommends product that will satisfy their needs and maximize store sales.

  • Assist customers with special orders, exchanges, returns and in-store orders from prAna.com

  • Possesses proficiency in use of our prAna POS system for sales transactions.

  • Displays a clear understanding of the prAna product line, participates in product education modules/training, and enthusiastically informs our customers about our apparel and accessories.

  • Assists with inventory cycle counts, order processing, and stock room organization

  • Assists the Management team with weekly housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized store (windows, floors, dusting)

  • Follows inventory control and loss prevention procedures.

  • Assists with merchandising, floor resets, and visual merchandising directives to elevate the customer experience.

  • Ability to follow all safety and security protocols and always operate within these guidelines.

  • Delivers input and ideas around new and exciting store, field of play, and region-specific events that will amplify prAna's voice in the outdoor world.

Education, Experience and Time Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of leadership/management experience required. Retail sales or customer service experience in specialty retail, active, or outdoor apparel a plus.

  • Experience in visual merchandising; outdoor retail specific merchandising experience preferred

  • Holds a passion for the outdoors and some/all of prAna's key fields of play

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Effective communication skills; able to exchange ideas and information with store leadership team, associates and consumers

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Flexibility and willingness to work an ever-changing schedule with various shift start and end times, based on business needs and trends. Weekend and Holiday availability are a must.
