Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Evaluation Specialist III position focuses on using data analytic skills and public health expertise to contribute toward developing data systems to help reduce drug overdoses in New York State and promote health equity of all New Yorkers. As such, the individual in this positionwill: (1) collaborate with staff across multiple program areas within the AIDS Institute, including HIV, STI, HCV, LGBTQ health, drug user health, and health equity; (2) design, create, and implement new evaluation data tools; (3) analyze data and present findings at management and partners meetings as well as at professional/academic conferences; and (4) publish in peer-reviewed journals. Other appropriate related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience in the evaluation and/or analysis of health, human services or related programs and/or fields; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences or a related field. Work experience in drug user health, opioid use disorders, and/or harm reduction. Experience in data collection and evaluation of data for review and analysis of public health program areas. Experience in collaborating with local county health departments. Experience in data analysis using SAS, SPSS, R, Excel and/or other analytical and data management tools. Experience working with large population-based data sets. Experience conducting all aspects of evaluation projects, including study design, data collection, data management, data analysis, reporting, presentation of results, and conducting community-based surveys. Experience in project management. Experience with creation of high-quality infographics. Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.
