As the Network Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the team in its mission to provide innovative and industry proven networking solutions to include private and public cloud networks and WAN Solutions for Bloomberg Industry Group (INDG), leveraging best in class network products and services combined with hybrid of on-premise and Cloud offerings to create an automated and orchestrated world class infrastructure.
You will serve in a tactically critical role, working side by side with multi-disciplinary teams both inside and outside of Engineering at the direction of Platform Engineering leadership.
You will be responsible for executing INDG's strategic roadmap, as well as maintaining and improving service levels by managing staff, researching and implementing best practices related to various Network associated technologies and practices, and managing professional services engagements that support these and other efforts. You will also provide direction and oversight of day-to-day team operations (including direct management of Technical Leads, Individual Contributors and contingent workers) and be an integral contributor to overarching Platform Engineering strategic roadmaps.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Oversee Network Engineering team's day-to-day operations to ensure that network services, maintenance and outages are managed using our defined operational practices ensuring consistent and predictable service outcomes.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and optimization of Cisco networks and Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Develop and document comprehensive technology support, maintenance and lifecycle plans that deliver measurable results; including hardware, software and configuration upgrades.
  • Leverage internal Information Security services to continuously define and deliver strong security postures for external and internal customers that adhere to INDG policies, best practices and relevant regulations.
  • Manage staff by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching and providing regular feedback.
  • Maintain staff by recruiting and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Recommend information technology strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating organizational outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements.
  • Maintain and improve quality service by establishing and reinforcing organizational standards.
  • Perform in-depth research to reveal new and better methods of handling functions within the department.
  • Participate in the creation and drive the implementation of the overall Engineering vision and goals by supporting and inspiring team members to jointly achieve them.
  • Serve as Technical Escalation point for those technologies where a more advanced skillset is required.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7+ years' network experience, including 5+ years' network analysis, design, engineering, or architecture.
  • Cisco CCNP and/or Palo Alto PCNSA certification or commensurate skills
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus, Catalyst, ASR, ASA and ISR platforms
  • Demonstrable expertise in physical network infrastructure and security concepts
  • Experience designing and implementing secure network architectures in AWS and Azure
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Proven track record of process evaluation/improvement, staff development and ability to meet rigid SLA's.
  • 1-3 years as a Team Lead or Senior Network Engineer

We'd Love to See:

  • Experience creating and managing operating budgets.
  • 0-3 years' people management experience; preferably in a technology discipline.
  • Experience working in an Agile, Scrum and DevOps work environments using CI/CD tools
  • AWS or Azure Networking-related certifications
  • CCIE Cisco certification
  • Palo Alto Certification such as PCNSE
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages
