Job Summary Priority Health is seeking a Senior Vice President, General Counsel for one of the most effective, community focused nonprofit health plans in the United States. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, Corewell Health, and the President, Priority Health, this role will be responsible for legal affairs of Priority Health and will lead a team of accomplished legal professionals to provide solution-oriented legal services to meet the needs of Priority Health. The SVP, General Counsel will be a key member of the senior leadership team of Priority Health, providing legal, strategic and business advice to the President of Priority Health and other leaders within the organization, employing a systems thinking lens recognizing that Priority Health is part of an integrated health system comprised of hospitals, physicians and other care delivery functions. The SVP, General Counsel will provide expert counsel across the enterprise on multiple subject matters of expertise, including, but not limited to compliance, health insurance and HMO laws/regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, Affordable Care Act, ethics, contracting, medical policies, strategic transactions, tax and finance, and litigation, as well as legislative and regulatory developments that could impact the organization and the members it serves. The SVP, General Counsel will be responsible for legal advice and projects as well as the supervision of legal services provided by in-house and outside counsel for Priority Health. This role will also play a critical role in the strategic engagement in business relationships, including complex transactions such as joint ventures and acquisitions, providing legal counsel, guidance, and representation to Priority Health, its management and governing bodies on legal and compliance issues. Key responsibilities for the SVP, General Counsel will also include accountability for health plan litigation, state filings, ERISA and other employer contracts. This role serves as corporate secretary and partners with the CEO and board leadership to drive board governance best practices and is responsible for leadership and facilitation of Priority Health enterprise risk management assessments and reporting processes.
