Sr. Safety Specialist

The role of the Senior Safety Specialist is to support a healthy and safe work environment through legal compliance and hazard identification. This position is responsible for day to day safety at our Distribution Center in Robards, Kentucky and is responsible for ensuring we are following safety programs, best practices as well as driving incident investigations.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Work closely with site leadership to provide hands-on support in establishing sustainable systems for OSHA, NFPA and other legal authority while continually improving the safety culture
  • Direct the overall Health and Safety Program for Columbia Sportswear Company's Distribution Centers
  • Perform safety audits and hazard analysis with associated corrective actions for substandard conditions
  • Act as a technical resource for safety regulations and best practices, to assist operations in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Develop, implement, and improve existing programs and practices to ensure the safe working conditions for CSC DC and Service Center employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

YOU ARE

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Strong reading, writing and speaking skills
  • Strong communication skills using a telephone, radio, or computer.
  • Ability to perform repetitive arm/shoulder movements, walk continually, push carts on grating, stand for extended periods of time, and walk up and down stairs
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to read wrist mounted scanning device (gladiator)

YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree, applicable certification or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 5-8 years of professional experience and strong competency with the various tools, systems, or procedures required to accomplish the job.
  • OSHA 30 or ISO 45001 certification preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Travel: Occasional - 10%
