Owned by our parent company, Hartree Partners, NE Renewable Power is made up of 7 Biomass electric generating power stations located in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. These stations play a crucial role in supplying locally sourced renewable energy to the people of New England.

Sprague brings its rich 150 years of energy operating experience to the operations of these facilities, and we're hiring an Operations & Maintenance Technician for the Tamworth location.

Our Operations and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and optimization of power generation facilities, including monitoring equipment, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, implementing upgrades, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, all while prioritizing safety and reliability of the plant's operations.

Key responsibilities to be done in coordination with Plant Management



  • Plant operations: Monitoring and controlling power generation equipment like boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems to maintain optimal output and efficiency.
  • Operations Training: Assist plant management with the training of plant operators and other shift personnel in the day-to-day operation of the power plant.
  • Maintenance and repair: Performing preventative maintenance checks, identifying and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, coordinating repairs with maintenance technicians, and ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Data analysis: Analyzing operational data from sensors and monitoring systems to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Compliance and safety: Adhering to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards, including emergency response procedures.
  • Performance optimization: Implementing strategies to maximize power generation efficiency and minimize fuel consumption.
  • Project management: Participating in plant upgrade projects, including design, implementation, and testing of new equipment.
  • Documentation and reporting: Maintaining detailed logs and records of plant operations, NERC compliance, Title 5 reporting, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
  • Act as a team member with all employees; comply with all NE Renewable Power policies and procedures.


Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in power plant operations and maintenance
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and environmental compliance standards
  • Understanding of the Title 5 permit requirements specific for Tamworth Power
  • Assist Plant Management with the compilation of record keeping and coordination of inspections for compliance with NERC regulations.


Work Environment: Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.



  • Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.


  • Requires working extended working hours with weekend and holiday work as required by workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required.
  • Includes working indoors and outdoors.

  • Physical requirements include the possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds.
  • All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
