Job Summary:

You will learn about operations and maintenance for a campus utility plant that encompasses all aspects of steam and chilled water production.

Key Responsibilities:



  • As a Utility Plant Operator, complete CUP operations and maintenance assignments working any assigned shift.
  • Independently operate, monitor, service, and repair steam and chilled water equipment, including ancillary systems.
  • Participate in all required training programs.



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Four years of progressively responsible utility plant operations experience including high-pressure boiler and chiller operating experience.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a City and County of Denver Stationary Engineer certificate within 6 months of hire. If the license is not obtained within 6 months of hire, the employee may be subject to termination. Specific licensing requirements for this certificate are outlined on the City of Denver's website.


    • One year of the required experience may be substituted with the successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or high level course work from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocational or trade school appropriate to the work assignment.




Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • City and County of Denver Stationary Engineer certificate, but the applicant does not need the license to participate in the job interview process.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of utility plant operations including the operation of high pressure boilers, centrifugal chillers, medium voltage electrical distribution, and associated ancillary equipment.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE ($4,809 - $5,771).

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
