JOB SUMMARY

As Monitor I, you play a vital role in supporting the successful reintegration of individuals transitioning from federal incarceration back into the community. Reporting directly to the Program Director, you are responsible for the supervision, safety, and accountability of residents at the Federal Bureau of Prisons Residential Reentry Center (RRC). This position combines structure and compassion to ensure residents comply with program expectations while fostering a secure and respectful environment. You'll be the eyes and ears on the ground, monitoring behavior, conducting security checks, documenting incidents, and helping residents stay on track with their reentry goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Provide supervision and monitoring of FBOP (Federal Bureau of Prisons) residents throughout your shift to ensure they are safe, accountable, and following all program rules and expectations.
  2. Monitor residents' daily schedules, curfews, and work assignments to ensure full compliance with Residential Reentry Center (RRC) guidelines.
  3. Document detailed and timely reports documenting resident behavior, including any incidents or violations, in accordance with Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) contract requirements.
  4. Conduct regular security rounds, including walking the perimeter, inspecting common areas and completing head counts and inspections using appropriate forms.
  5. Respond quickly and professionally to incoming phone calls, visitors, and resident inquiries at the facility entrance or gate, ensuring proper screening and documentation.
  6. Immediately report any behavioral incidents, safety concerns, or rule violations of FBOP to your supervisor and document them thoroughly using approved procedures and RRC rules.
  7. Assist with general office tasks such as filing, organizing paperwork, and maintaining accurate logs to support daily operations and compliance.
  8. Collect urine specimens from same-gender residents and process them according to approved procedures, maintaining confidentiality and proper documentation.
  9. Conduct scheduled and random searches of resident rooms and vehicles to ensure the facility remains free of contraband and in compliance with safety policies.
  10. Perform routine pat-downs and property searches of residents in a professional manner, following all agency protocols to maintain safety and dignity.
  11. Monitor surveillance cameras to regularly observe resident activity and facility conditions, and promptly report any suspicious behavior or safety concerns to your supervisor.
  12. Follow the agency's timecard, PTO (Paid Time Off), and California's rest and meal period policies.
  13. Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  14. Will drive on Agency business.
  15. Physical presence at the program is required.


ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS



  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Two (2) years monitor experience.
  3. Current certified training in emergency first aid, preferred.
  4. Legibly, accurately and appropriately document communications, behaviors and facility events as they occur.
  5. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  6. Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  7. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  8. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
