Our Molex Fiberguide facility in Caldwell, Idaho, is seeking qualified candidates for our Applications Engineer position. This role will create value by gathering information from customers and management to design fiber optic prototypes.

The company makes products ranging from interconnect components to collimators to complex fiber optic assemblies used in a wide range of industries. This Molex facility works with custom fiber optic assemblies, and bundles for industrial and medical applications.

What You Will Do

* Independently design optical and photonic prototypes, specifically fiber optic systems and assist in their transfer to production. This includes but is not limited to, the gathering of information, communication with customers, project management, drawings, and specifications.
* Create documentation for the production and testing of new designs including CAD drawings and cost estimates.
* Analyze, fabricate, and design tests for fiber optic assemblies.
* Conduct research into new fiber and photonic technologies and provide training to other functional areas of the business.
* Attend industry events including trade shows, customer visits, and training sessions.
* Provide training using written instructions, presentations, and demonstrations.
* Working with cross-functional teams.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's degree in engineering
* One (1) year or more engineering experience (design or manufacturing)
* Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, etc..)

What Will Put You Ahead

* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
* Knowledge of fiber optic systems, free space optics, lensing systems, and laser systems
* Experience designing intricate and miniature parts

In order to comply with U.S. export control laws and regulations, this position requires applicants to either provide proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status or be eligible to receive an export authorization (a license) under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations.
