Compensation Grade: P27Compensation Details: Minimum: $102,003.00 - Maximum: $102,003.00 AnnuallyDepartment (OPH) CEH - Center for Environmental HealthJob Description: Responsibilities The Research Scientist IV will join a diverse and dynamic team of public health professionals to manage and oversee the Wastewater Surveillance Program within the Center for Environmental Health. This role will be responsible for coordinating grant deliverables and contracts, supporting data analysis projects, connecting with project partners, and overseeing the development of high-quality data to inform public health action. Data collected from the New York State Wastewater Surveillance System is used to observe and predict changes in pathogen concentrations circulating in the environment to inform epidemiologic and programmatic decisions related to reducing the risk of disease spread. Other responsibilities include collaborating with local public health agencies, utilities, universities, and laboratories to assess, plan, and execute the New York State Wastewater Surveillance System. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of research experience; OR a Master's degree in a related field and four years of research experience; or a Doctorate in a related field and two years of research experience. Preferred Qualifications Research experience in environmental epidemiology with knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, statistics, outbreak investigation, environmental monitoring, or public health surveillance. Experience coordinating large complex projects, managing grants, and preparing reports and publications. Experience managing collaborative teams with internal and external partners. Knowledge of wastewater surveillance and laboratory practices, especially the analysis of microorganisms and chemicals in the environment. Experience with technical writing and communicating scientific information to diverse and specialized audiences, such as local, state, and federal partners, and the general public. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
