Position Summary
The Department of Sociology, Criminology, and Justice Studies ( SCJ) at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro ( UNCG) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2025. Areas of specialization are open within the fields of Criminology and Justice Studies, but the ability to teach data analysis is preferred. the successful candidate should hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in [Sociology, Criminology, or a related field] by August 1, 2025. Review of applications begins on March 3, 2025 and continues until the position is filled.
The UNCG SCJ department (https://soc.uncg.edu/) offers bachelor's and master's degrees in Sociology with an optional concentration in Criminology and Justice Studies at both levels. Candidates must have an active research agenda and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate student teaching. UNCG SCJ is among the leaders in research productivity among institutional peers and also subscribes to the teacher-scholar model. In Criminology and Justice studies, a variety of critical criminologies are practiced, including African American, Peacemaking, Intersectional, Convict, and Feminist. UNCG is categorized as a Carnegie Doctoral University with High Research Activity, and prides itself on community engagement and being among the top R2's in the country.
