Staff Research Associate IV (SRA 4)

The PI is seeking a person who will provide research project planning, project and lab oversight, and lead a team in execution of research projects in the domain of understanding neural mechanisms of decision making with use of an existing set of tools, techniques, and equipment used by the lab.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience-related field.
• At least 5 years' experience with systems neuroscience research post-PhD.
• Experience handling rodents.
• Experience with BPOD behavioral control systems.
• Experience with surgical implants of rodents for neurophysiology.
• Experience with Matlab programming.
• Experience performing neurophysiological recordings with Neuropixels probes, Kilosort spike sorting of those data, and analysis relating data to behavior.
• Knowledge of brain circuits involved in decision, including but not limited to parietal, frontal, and striatal brain regions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electronics, such as soldering and knowledge of circuit components.
• Experience with handling and oversight of lab safety protocols.
• Experience with training other researchers on the above techniques.

Department Overview

The Center for Neuroscience as a part of the College of Biological Sciences conducts research in the areas of molecular, cellular, basic systems, and cognitive neuroscience. In addition, the Center is involved with the training of graduate and undergraduate students in neuroscience and related fields.
