Now Hiring: Camp Inclusion Technician - Make a Difference This Summer!

Do you have experience supporting children's social and emotional growth in a nurturing, inclusive environment? Are you passionate about creating positive experiences for all children, regardless of their abilities? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you at our YMCA Summer Camps!


About the Role:

As a Camp Inclusion Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that every camper has the opportunity to thrive. You will help implement behavior and inclusion plans tailored to individual children, fostering a supportive and welcoming camp environment.

On a typical day, you'll be working at one of our multiple camp locations, including:

Children's Island (Marblehead)

Camp Trickling Falls (New Hampshire - serving Haverhill & Plaistow)

Camp Cedar Mill (Ipswich)

Camp Sterling Woods (Beverly)

Camp Harbor Quest (Salem)

Camp Spindrift (Cape Ann)

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting youth programming and implementing individualized inclusion plans

Monitoring behavior, documenting observations, and providing timely communication

Teaching social and emotional skills through structured activities and positive interventions

Assisting staff with incorporating modifications and accommodations to enhance inclusivity

Encouraging a positive, supportive, and engaging environment for all campers


What You Bring to the Team:

Experience working with children of diverse abilities in an educational or recreational setting

Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and social-emotional learning techniques

The ability to adapt and implement best practices with flexibility and creativity

Strong observational and problem-solving skills to assess and respond to behaviors effectively

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Completion of a child growth and development course with a minimum of three years of experience working with youth, OR an Associate's Degree in a youth service or related field with at least two years of experience working with youth.
  • Prior experience working with diverse populations and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Strong understanding of child development and social-emotional health with the ability to implement appropriate child safety plans.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately when working with children, families, and staff in a program setting.
  • This is a 12-week seasonal position running from mid-June through the end of August.


Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to provide and maintain all required certifications and documentation as required by the YMCA and any applicable licensing agencies.
  • Completion of all trainings, certifications, and program orientation in accordance with the YMCA of the North Shore and local licensing requirements.


Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, and move freely to ensure a safe environment for children.
  • Must be able to react quickly and effectively to unpredictable situations involving youth.
