UH Behavioral Health is the KC metro area's largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The Crossroads Building, located in Kansas City's vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

Job Description

Join our team as a Recovery Coach / Case Manager, where you will play a vital role in helping individuals overcome barriers, build resilience, and thrive.

About Us: We are dedicated to providing holistic, wraparound services that empower youth and families to navigate challenges and achieve their goals. Our Recovery Coaches work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, therapists, and community partners to deliver person-centered support that fosters growth, wellness, and stability.

The Recovery Coach provides behaviorally oriented and socially rehabilitative services for clients who are experiencing disruptions in functioning as a result of mental illness or substance abuse. Services provided focus primary assistance in the domains of environmental, financial, social, occupational, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional wellbeing. Some of the methods include triage, risk assessment, ongoing assessment of behavioral and psychosocial needs, information and referral, client and family education, coordination of services with all providers, and assistance with learning necessary skills to promote wellness across the domains. The Recovery Coach functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team for client care and works effectively in a multicultural setting. The Recovery Coach works under the regular supervision and direction of a Qualified Mental Health Professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide behaviorally oriented and socially rehabilitative services for youth, young adults, and families (ages 3-25).
  • Conduct risk assessments, and ongoing evaluations of clients' behavioral and psychosocial needs.
  • Transport clients in your own vehicle when providing services
  • Offer client and family education, information, and referrals to essential resources.
  • Coordinate services with providers and assist clients in learning skills to promote wellness in key life domains, including environmental, financial, social, occupational, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional well-being.
  • Deliver creative, community-based interventions in homes, schools, parks, or other settings to support positive outcomes.
  • Serve as a compassionate and humble advocate for clients, recognizing their resilience and strength.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Capability to evaluate program outcomes and adapt strategies for success.
  • Experience working with multicultural staff and clientele.
  • Must meet Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy requirements (clean driving record).

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Community-based work in Kansas City, MO.
