The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is seeking qualified applicants for an
Forestry, Wildlife, and Natural Resources Extension Agent - Northwest Region of Alabama. This position is a 100% Extension assignment covering ten counties. The Agent will be housed in a county office in the region this position serves.
Program Priority Area: Forestry, Wildlife and Natural Resources
Geographic Area of Responsibility: Northwest Alabama Region (Lauderdale, Limestone, Colbert, Lawrence, Morgan, Franklin, Marion, Winston, Walker, Fayette, and Lamar Counties)

Essential Functions |
The Forestry, Wildlife, and Natural Resources Extension Agent will serve as the primary Extension educator for forestry, wildlife, and natural resources in the assigned ten-county region. This includes responding to requests for forestry, wildlife, and natural resources related technical information from throughout the region. These requests may come through telephone calls, email, letters, and other personal contacts.
The EA will be expected to:
- Proactively develop a regional technology transfer program through meetings, workshops, publications, web sites, and other outreach techniques to provide forestry, wildlife and natural resources related information to landowners, professionals, and the general public.
- Be part of a state-wide Extension Priority Program Team and be expected to participate as a team member to plan, promote, and execute team programs as well as participate in team training opportunities.
- Utilize all available/emerging technologies in their educational efforts as well as more traditional methods such as newsletters, news articles, workshops/group meetings, demonstrations and farm/home visits.
- Participate in writing grants and participate in activities that support applied research/demonstrations beneficial to clientele. Participating in regional and state FWNR associations, and other groups representing FWNR, is important for the EA to develop a reputation as an educational leader with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
- Assist team leader and administrators in project outcome and impact evaluations.
Team Description: Extension Agent's (EA's), Urban Extension Agent's (UEA's), County Extension Directors (CEDs), and Specialists form the core of Extension teams.
- Participate as a cohesive team member working with local clientele, advisory groups, volunteers, and other interested parties to determine regional needs for program outreach.
- Partner with other EA's and CEDs to provide educational leadership in planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting programs conducted in the region.

Level 1: Bachelor's degree and 0 years of experience.
Level 2: Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience or Master's degree and 2 years of experience.
Level 3: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience or Master's degree and 6 years of experience.
Level 4: Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience or Master's degree and 10 years of experience.
Focus of Education: Discipline related to extension programming.
Focus of Experience: Experience implementing, managing, or delivering educational programs in a relevant discipline, including formal and/or informal teaching methods
This position requires regular travel to carry out Extension responsibilities, and the successful incumbent must have access to reliable transportation. |

- The successful candidate must demonstrate capability in planning and delivering educational programs in Forestry, Wildlife, and Natural Resources.
- Candidates must demonstrate effective written and interpersonal communication skills, possess the ability to work cooperatively with individuals and groups, and be willing to utilize various forms of outreach for educational program delivery to a diverse clientele.
- Successful applicants must possess strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to respectfully self-motivate their daily priorities.

A Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Wildlife Management with a minimum
GPA of 2.75, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum
GPA of 2.75 and at least two years of experience.
A Master's degree is preferred and does not require experience to apply. |
