The GP Wauna Mill is looking for a Power Area Assistant Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent will develop and implement deliberate improvement opportunities within the Utilities Department. This will include improving equipment operating envelopes, maintaining equipment reliability, developing asset strategies, and optimizing energy usage. This position is a key leadership role within the Utilities Department that requires daily interactions with operators and other staff members (maintenance planners, vibration technicians, etc.). The Power Area Assistant Superintendent plays a key role on the Utilities team of 40+ employees and reports to the Utilities Department Superintendent. Our Team The Wauna mill, it's 800+ team members, and products are a critical part of GP's Consumer Products portfolio. The site manufactures high-profile Angel Soft, Sparkle and Vanity Fair brands. GP has invested heavily at Wauna in recent years to deliver competitive tissue and towel products, including a new tissue paper converting machine and palletizing robotics. The mill also features a recent $150M investment rebuilding a paper machine, to further the mill's competitive position. Located 1 hour North of Portland, the mill is nestled in outskirts of Astoria, OR and Clatskanie, OR. Oregon serves as a major attraction for outdoor lifestyles including hiking, mountains, or summer beach time. What You Will Do * Provide timely and relevant information to supervisors, co-workers, and hourly staff to aide in knowledge shares and decision-making. * Provide leadership during operational upset conditions by applying technical knowledge (both mechanical and process-related). * Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish maintenance and operational work. * Compile data from continuous process monitoring equipment to optimize unit operations. * Engage Corporate/Industry SMEs to implement best practices. * Adhere to all corporate required Operational Maintenance (OM) standards. * Monitor and optimize key process indicators for equipment runnability. * Support and develop capital project conception and planning (includes evaluating potential upgrades for long-term sustainability). * Maintain compliance with all applicable environmental regulations as it pertains to air and water permits for specified equipment such as the Fluidized Bed Boiler. * Safely plan and execute unit outages and annual outages on equipment. * Facilitate RCAs and coordinate/execute corrective actions in a timely manner. * Improve the performance of the department's work efficiency by clearly defining department goals and KPIs to operators. * Encourage operators to engage in their process and develop ownership of equipment. * Create SOPs, escalation protocols, and troubleshooting guides to ensure reliable equipment operations and assist operators during upset conditions. * Evaluate chemical/energy savings via analytical analysis and mass and energy balances. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Bachelor in Engineering or a related technical field, OR 2+ years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment * Experience identifying, leading, and executing improvement initiatives * Experience using Microsoft Office programs such Project, Excel, and Word What Will Put You Ahead * 5+ years of work experience within a Power Production/Steam Plant * Experience and knowledge of power systems such as power boilers, fluidized bed boilers, solid-fuel handling systems, air systems, steam systems, feedwater systems, and turbine generators * Experience in DeltaV DCS, ParcView, PI Process Book, PI Vision, KCF Smart Diagnostics, and SAP (or similar software) At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
