The Opportunity

  • Full-time position at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company

  • Reporting to the Operations Assistant Superintendent, this position is responsible for operating assigned processing, treating and/or distribution equipment by manual and/or instrument control under supervision, inside the refinery.

Interview Process

  • The interview process includes a test, on-site interviews, and a pre-employment background and drug screen.
  • Qualified candidates selected for testing will be invited for on-site Saturday testing date between February and April 2025.
  • Final interviews will be held in late May of 2025
  • The current projected start date is in August 2025
  • Note: All dates are subject to change based on refinery operational

Key activities include:

  • Complies with & enforces established rules, standards, & regulations in use of safety & environmental equipment.
  • Starts up & shuts down process equipment & systems such as pumps, air coolers, reciprocating & centrifugal compressors. Maintains fired furnaces in good & safe operating condition.
  • Effectively executes & participates in thorough shift turnover & attends shift safety meetings.
  • Monitors & adjusts process equipment, process flows, temperatures, levels & pressures in an outside working environment.
  • Assists in trouble shooting equipment & process-related problems.
  • Recognizing hazards & taking action to prevent, eliminate and/or mitigate "upsets".
  • Uses Stop Work authority as needed & appropriate.
  • Draws product samples for quality control testing. Performs field quality control tests as required - at times working at heights of up to 115 feet.
  • Accurately maintains & completes surveys, checklists, inventories, reports, & journals as necessary or directed, using a company PC.
  • Monitors maintenance requirements & prepares notifications for work.
  • Maintains assigned work area & equipment in a safe, orderly & clean condition.
  • Promptly reports any unsafe or abnormal conditions to Shift Supervisor on duty.
  • Attends emergency response classes, remains current in required training, including basic firefighting, & responds to refinery emergencies as required.
  • Works closely with maintenance, environmental, inspections, & contractors.
  • Assists with training as needed or assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed by Operations Supervisor or Supervisor's designee.

Qualifications:

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To comply with the regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Three years of successful full-time employment required, previous full-time employment in an industrial capacity is preferred
  • Documented successful training in an electro-mechanical operation or trade is preferred
  • Computer knowledge, skills & abilities desired
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry, engineering, and/or physics is desired

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License with acceptable Driver's Abstract required
  • Availability and willingness to work 12-Hour shifts on rotating day/night shift schedule required
  • Must be available to work during off-hours to include staff coverage needs, emergencies & turnarounds
  • Must be able to take call outs and be on standby status frequently. Mandatory overtime required. Must be available and able to work weekends, holidays, day and night shifts on a regular and reliable basis
  • Must be willing and able to climb ladders and work at heights of up to 115 feet (approximately 10-12 stories)

Hiring Range:

The hourly pay for this position is $30.41-$38.35 per hour within the first 4-5 months. The candidate selected will start at $30.41 while in training, and move to $38.35 per hour when qualified, per our union agreement. Qualification typically takes four to five months. Increases in pay are then once to twice per year.
