TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, is part of City of Hope. We are an Arizona-based, nonprofit medical research institute dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life-changing results. We work to unravel the genetic components of common and complex diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative and neurological disorders, infectious disease, and rare childhood disorders. By identifying treatment options in this manner, we believe medicine becomes more rational, more precise and, well, more personal.

The projects in the Fryer lab focus on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and aging, in particular in Alzheimers disease and related dementias. Our translational research program aims to elucidate the underlying biological pathways and mechanisms, with a focus on the interface between the immune system and disease. For this we combine cutting edge bulk and single-cell RNAseq, long-read RNA/DNA sequencing, biochemistry, genetically engineered mouse models, and human patient and patient-derived tissue samples. We have a growing nanobody program as part of the newly established Center

for Accelerated Nanotherapeutics.

We are a human-centric organization that translates to our employees. Some of the perks in working for us:

  • BC/BS of Arizona health coverage.
  • Dental, Vision, Life, Short and Long Term Disability
  • Top notch EAP with a full scope of concierge type services
  • 401k with 6% match
  • Generous time off
  • Commuter benefits
  • Much, much more!
