JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

The Manager, Merchant Services Sales is responsible for developing and executing sales strategy and leading a merchant services sales team. This position will be responsible for setting sales objectives for the merchant services sales effort for the company, proactively identifying and leveraging growth opportunities in the market, and analyzing performance data to ensure the team is meeting/exceeding sales targets. This position will also be responsible for ongoing support, training, coaching and career development of the merchant services team and will serve as an escalation point for managers, business partners, vendors and prospective clients for new merchant sales activity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the company's merchant services products through evaluating existing products and overseeing development of new products to ensure the Bank maintains competitive products.
  • Develops a marketing strategy and sets sales objectives for the merchant services staff.
  • Ensures compliance and federal regulations on all product documentation. Stays current on product knowledge, competition, and merchant services related issues.
  • Works with internal managers to market merchant services products and services.
  • Serves as primary contact for merchant services vendor relationships.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationship with existing clientele and internal business partners.
  • Ensures adequate staffing of Merchant Service Representatives within markets.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent manages managers and employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the assigned unit and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field; graduate degree preferred
  • 7- 10 years financial services experience; 5+ years of Merchant Services experience
  • Previous management or supervisory experience

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
