We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a CAD Mechanical Drafter supporting the Fort Worth Advanced Optics Team, in Fort Worth, TX a typical day will include:

Key Responsibilities

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CREO (Pro-E), SolidWorks, or Equivalent CAD skills (CREO preferred) in PLM or Windchill environment.

  • Design components and assemblies for complex equipment using PTC Creo, utilizing PTC Windchill for design revision control.

  • Implement innovative approaches for delivering technology solutions faster and with higher quality.

  • Prepare mechanical fabrication drawings of components and assemblies per ASME guidelines and internal engineering design standards including GD&T.

  • Develop assembly drawings, assembly procedures, Bill of Materials, and system documentation for verification and validation of new & existing equipment in GxP environments.

  • Work in hands-on environment, assemble and test components and subsystem assemblies in laboratory conditions.

  • Source components and hardware per system design requirements.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with supervising engineers to understand design requirements, design components and assemblies, prepare CAD renders and animations to communicate design features and function.

  • Participate in development teams for design and build of machinery, prototype components and assemble in lab for test fit and function.

Attention to Detail:

  • Precise and error-free drawings

  • Ability to troubleshoot design issues and propose effective solutions.

  • Managing different tasks and staying on track to meet project timelines.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 3 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work hours: 40 hours

  • Travel: 5 %

  • Relocation: No

Preferred Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Drafting or CAD or relevant engineering discipline

  • Preferred education or experience in optical instrumentation, optomechanical design, machine vision, motorized control systems

  • Education or direct experience in designing and troubleshooting mechanical assemblies.

  • Use of Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, TEAMs)
