About The Position

The Electric System Planning Strategy Consultant will be integral to development and execution of Ameren's Integrated Distribution Planning (IDP) processes for both sub-transmission and distribution system by working cross-functionally with key leaders and teams to drive long-term strategy implementation, ensuring that priorities are developed, communicated, and met. The Strategy Consultant will also provide oversight on key initiatives to help drive core work and achieve critical outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Consider key trends, risks, and potential impacts. Leverage findings to inform and provide strategic input into the development of the Integrated Planning Process to ensure Ameren Illinois's planning transformation is done in a reliable and affordable manner while complying with all state, federal, and local policy requirements.
  • Consult on development and testimony as needed to support the business case for compliance with CEJA.
  • Be subject matter expert on scenario planning and actively engage with utility industry on scenario selection and development.
  • Assess grid resiliency and develop strategy to mitigate potential climate change impacts and support clean energy transition.
  • Ensure strategy is aligned with integrated distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission planning efforts. Collaborate with and support Clean Energy Transition team and others with ongoing demand response programs, beneficial electrification plans, and energy efficiency programs.
  • Partner in modeling the optimized location of new renewable resources for a reliable and affordable renewable energy transition.
  • Partner with key functions across the enterprise including, but not limited to, Corporate Strategy, Innovation & Sustainability, Regulatory, Economic Development & Energy Solutions, Asset Management, Legal, Transmission, Digital, and Clean Energy Transition Team.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant area required. Five or more years of professional-level experience required; three or more years of professional-level experience required with master's degree; or PhD with relevant research experience may be considered in lieu of professional experience. Active engagement in industry associations such as IEEE, EPRI, etc. preferred. Experience in or knowledge of Energy Generation, Renewable Energy Development, Resource Planning, Energy Policy, Financial Modeling, and/or other aspects of Integrated Distribution Planning (IDP) preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills; able to effectively communicate and build relationships with stakeholders, process teams, leadership at all levels, and third parties.
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule and complete tasks for multiple projects with overlapping schedules.
  • Excellent facilitation skills for working with both internal and external parties.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills - ability to identify underlying causes of key issues, draw accurate conclusions across multiple situations, and develop strong insight into complex issues.
  • Highly motivated, comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Proactive, persistent and dependable. Excellent time management skills. Strong work ethic.
Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$86,400.00 - $133,900.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
