Job Description
IPG Photonics continues to expand with new opportunities in Marlboro, MA. The Laser Engineer will be a part of a new, cohesive group involved in the development of advanced laser modules and systems.

Duties: The Laser Engineer will assemble bench top, laser-based systems, set up and complete experiments on an optical table, including optical alignment, optical and electrical assembly and testing, gathering and presentation of experimental data.

*Assemble optical/laser hardware and verify the performance of optical components, equipment, systems, and setups

*Perform endearment and characterization tests

*Operate and maintain variety of optical, test and analytical instruments

*Provide reports and training to internal personnel
Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Lasers or related field or foreign equivalent degree. 2 yrs of related experience. Required Skills: Assemble optical/laser hardware and verify the performance of optical components, equipment, systems, and setups to ensure optimal functionality and reliability using Thorlabs Powermeter 405-1650nm, Extinction Ratio Meter, Optical binocular microscope, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope, Ando Optical Spectral Analyzer 350nm-1750nm; Conduct measurement and characterization tests utilizing advanced data acquisition software such as ThorLabs apps, Python, Matlab and optical hardware including Motorized Translation Stages, Apertures, rotators; Operate and maintain optical, test and analytical instruments: Optical binocular microscope, SEM, Bruker FT-IR Spectrometer, Cryogen Cooled Powermeter HgCdTe, 10 K Janis Cryocooler, Hydrogen and Nitrogen Optical Cryostats; Develop, operate and align vacuum setups using High Vacuum Turbomolecular Pump, Dry Diaphragm Vacuum Pump, Helium Gas Leak Detector; Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system using data processing software including Origin, Python, MS Office.
