Purpose

This position manages and guides the budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes for NAM Wholesale. Cornerstone activities for this role include supporting cross-functional activities around end-to-end planning, cost efficiencies and ensuring top notch, highly accurate and consistent information and analysis for all business partners. Leads the day-to-day activities and P&L of adidas US WHS and Team Services commercial channels. Provides guidance to the Canadian Wholesale Finance team and for the incorporation and consolidation of Canadian Wholesale strategies into the overall NAM Wholesale financial strategy.






Key Accountabilities



  • Directs the management of financial plans, targets, strategies and controls that focus on achieving desired financial and business objectives of the adidas NAM Wholesale business.
  • Oversees the plans, budgets, forecasts and controls for full adidas NAM Wholesale P&L.
  • Evaluates business risks and opportunities, projects and other pending decisions to determine impact on company's financial results and to identify ways to improve the economics for the Company and prepares post-mortems on outcomes.
  • Serves as a financial and business consultant to the NAM Wholesale channels in developing, outlining, evaluating, and executing on business model changes.
  • Drives sales and profitability by building financial models to evaluate new business opportunities and to analyse current business performance for NAM Wholesale.
  • Leads with continuous innovation for NAM Wholesale KPIs and reporting environment to educate Business Partners, Finance and other non-Financial managers to track performance of adidas Wholesale and Team Services.
  • Strategizes cross-functionally to optimize channel profitability, growth prospects and support of regional finance and brand goals.
  • Partners with the Sr. Director's & VP's across NAM Wholesale to ensure all reporting, compliance and other standards are achieved.
  • Manages the relationship and service levels between NAM Wholesale and corporate support functions such as adidas Brand Finance, FP&A, Operations, Retained Accounting, GBS, Credit and Global functions.
  • Provides leadership and consultation for direct reports to ensure continuous talent development and increased Wholesale acumen for the adidas NAM organization.
  • Key member of FP&A team, bringing best practice, input and collaboration to ensure achievement of cross-functional targets and initiatives.



Knowledge Skills and Abilities



  • Expert knowledge in Finance and Accounting and high-level understanding and proven track record with retail math and retail financial drivers.
  • Ability to think strategically, synthesize the most complex data and develop innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, and determine and implement effective action plans


  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to information requests from senior executives, stakeholders, cross functional business leaders, peers, clients, and customers.
  • High level skills in Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint (or other reporting software).
  • A proven track record of executional excellence in an environment that requires a detail-oriented approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities to accomplish assignments simultaneously under tight timelines.
  • Ability to coach, manage, align, motivate and develop direct reports.
  • Desire and ability to work closely and collaboratively with other members of Finance & Channels
  • Ability to execute scenario planning and post-mortems for diverse commercial finance challenges and opportunities.



Qualifications (Minimum required education and experience):



  • Advanced degree or qualification in Finance, Economics or Accounting (e.g. MBA or CPA preferred), or the equivalent of
  • 10+ years of broad-based operational finance experience with progressive responsibility in industry leading companies, with Wholesale finance experience preferred
  • Minimum of five years successfully leading, managing and developing a team
  • Solid accounting skills and experience
  • Advanced excel skills required
  • Familiarity with SAP, COPA, TM1 and other relevant adidas and industry Finance systems/analytical software a major plus
