Our award-winning Recreation team is looking for our newest team members to join us as Recreation Attendants for the Erie Community Recreation Center.

This position includes all of Guest Service Operations which includes Guest Service (Front Desk), KidStation (Childcare), Fitness Area, Concessions, Coal Creek Cafe and Ice Rink; and performs related work as required.

ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE:




  • We are currently looking for candidates who have availability early mornings for facility opening, evenings for facility closing and weekends (Saturdays & Sundays); shift times TBD based on availability





DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Guest Services Duties



  • Perform regular and routine duties in the day-to-day operations of the Erie Community Center and the Ballpark at Erie, may include Guest Service (Front Desk), KidStation (Childcare), Fitness Area, Concessions, Coal Creek Cafe and Ice Rink.
  • Greet guests, accept, and process memberships, and registrations for specific activities within the Community Center and Department. May conduct facility tours.
  • Provide P.E.A.K. guest service and answer guest questions in person and over the phone.
  • Maintain work area, facilities, supplies and equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
  • May be responsible for opening and/or closing shifts at the Erie Community Center, Coal Creek Cafe or Ballpark at Erie
  • Ensure the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests and practicing safe food handling procedures. Obtain waivers from guests as needed.
  • Administer first aid, CPR, and other medical attention as needed.
  • Perform regular duties in operations of childcare and ensures a safe childcare environment. Check in and check out activity participants and their parents.
  • Perform regular duties in concessions and ensure a safe food and beverage environment. Inventory, stock, prep, and serve food and beverage within safe handling procedures.
  • Perform regular duties in operations of fitness floor, monitor usage of fitness equipment. Ensures a safe and sanitary environment which includes daily cleaning of fitness equipment.
  • Perform regular duties in operations of the Coal Creek Ice Rink and Cafe'. Ensures a safe and sanitary environment for food, beverage, and ice skating operations.



Administrative Duties



  • Handle and process payments. Responsible for assigned funds and receipts.
  • May set up and tear down equipment used for activities and special events.
  • Maintain frequent communications with other staff and volunteers within the Community Center and Division. Report any issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings. May assist in the training of new staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age to work Front Desk, Kid Station, Concessions, Ice Rink, Coal Creek Cafe and/or the Fitness Area.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • One-year related experience is preferred.



CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS




  • Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification within three months of employment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate exceptional leadership and communication skills and must possess expert knowledge of the principles, practices, trends and methods of recreational aquatics operations and programming in a community setting. Knowledge of guidelines and regulations related to Department, Town, County, State, and Federal policies and procedures also required.

Skills in: Initiative and decision-making; verbal and written communication; supervision, leadership, and interpersonal relationships; basic financial methods of recreational programming; outstanding customer service to a diverse population; administrative functions; time management, meeting deadlines, responding to internal and external requests in a timely manner; the use of standard office equipment, computers, and various software programs; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community; conflict resolution; handling controversial issues; comprehending instruction, correspondence, and policies and procedures; problem solving; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification.

Environmental Factors:

Depending on the position/assignment, the employee may work indoors behind a desk/at a computer, indoors on the fitness floor, indoors and outdoors in the KidStation, and/or outdoors or in the Concessions/Cafe area near the ball fields. Some environments are heat/cool regulated environments, but depending on work assignment and location, exposure to elements and various weather conditions may occur. Work will take place in a recreation center environment which may be noisy, and the overall environment is very active with a variety of activities in progress and people going various places throughout the facility most of the time. Employee will use various cleaning products throughout their shifts.

Physical Factors:

Some repetitive motion activities such as typing will be required for all Recreation Attendant II Guest Service Operations staff. All staff may also be required to use a computer at times. If working the front desk, employee will typically spend approximately 2-3 hours per day sitting, an hour standing in one place, and an hour walking. Front desk staff will rarely need to bend over, lift or reach for objects, and/or push or pull objects but will need to be able to use a computer for various tasks (more computer use in this role than in others included in this job description). If working the KidStation, Fitness, Concessions, or Ice Rink, less than one hour per day will be spent sitting and the majority of time will be spent either standing in one general location or walking. Employees working the KidStation, Fitness, Concessions, or Ice Rink will need to lift or bend down to pick up objects, equipment, children, or for restocking and/or cleaning purposes approximately 5-7 times per hour. Weight of object needing lifted or moved is approximately 25-50 lbs. on average. Employees working in the KidStation, Fitness, Concessions, or Ice Rink areas will also need to be able to reach at all levels within body distance 3-5 times per hour on average. The ability to navigate through various environments, around objects, and over various types of surfaces will be necessary for all staff, as will the ability to receive communications and communicate with others.
