Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining a variety of health and safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and contractors working at Silver Peak. In addition, responsible for leading and building up the emergency response team, coordinating emergency response training and adhere to all applicable policies, procedures and regulations as well as, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and recognized industry practices governing the site.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, implement and/or provide site operations with safety oversight in the field and provide applicable insight/ work direction on complex safety issues.
  • Assist with contractor safety using ISNetworld.
  • Act as training coordinator for site. Coordinate and conduct site safety meetings and other training as needed.
  • Plan, implement and/or conduct training for new employees.
  • Provide assistance with site safety databases (SAP).
  • Responsible for the Emergency Response Team and attend monthly meetings and facilitate continuous hands-on training to maintain an appropriate level of preparedness.
  • Assist in coordinating emergency response activities at the site and with local authorities.
  • Procure safety supplies and equipment with site purchasing.
  • Assist team members on root cause incident investigation methods.
  • Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates to site safety procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate air monitoring equipment.
  • Create safety update newsletters and keep safety bulletin board up to date with current information.
  • Maintain log of all PPE inspections and safety equipment inspections and ensure all inspections are being performed on a routine basis.
  • Maintain the site safety audit programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSHA Certified Trainer preferred or able to attain certification within a reasonable period.
  • Familiar with incident investigation methods.
  • Knowledgeable in safety and health compliance in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities, with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational and follow up skills.
  • Ability to work with others at all levels to accomplish objectives.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
