Summary: The US Regional Plants Engineer provides technical and engineering support for the manufacturing sites in Convent, LA, Soda Springs, ID, and Vanceboro, NC. This role will identify, develop, and implement projects and process modifications to improve the occupational safety, process safety, environmental compliance, production efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction for the three sites. Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday with additional nights and weekends, as required. Travel up to 25% with extended assignments for training and project oversight. Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and implement projects and process modifications to improve the occupational safety, process safety, environmental compliance, production efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction for the three sites
- Understand plant environmental, health, and safety regulations and comply with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements
- Participate in plants' Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) as a technical resource
- Drive HES initiatives provided by local sites and Arkema Inc. (BBS, Observations, MOC, PSSR, etc.)
- Support and promote HES event reporting, investigating, and corrective action implementation for all health, safety, and environmental near-misses, accidents, injuries, etc.
- Train plant employees on the proper use of new or existing production equipment
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (maintenance, engineering, customer service, supply chain, commercial, R&D, EHS) to plan plant trials and support growth initiatives
- Lead problem solving efforts to investigate, address, and reduce manufacturing sources of loss
- Develop standard operating procedures for consistent and repeatable manufacturing
- Lead root cause investigations (RCI) and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement
- Communicate with and oversee multi-disciplinary 3rd party contractors to implement projects and process changes
- Evaluate operating parameters to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required
- 3 years of engineering experience required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
- Willingness to travel up to 25% required
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Chemical manufacturing environment. This role requires extended time in
- the plants with routine lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching,
- standing, and walking
- This role also requires computer work in an office environment involving
- sitting for extended periods of time and repetitive motion
- Must be able to pass a post-offer/pre-placement drug screen, background
- check, and pulmonary function test
