Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), a nationally prominent comprehensive college for the performing and media arts, seeks a full-time Assistant Dean of Preparatory and Community Engagement to start in May of 2025. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) seeks a visionary leader and strategic thinker as the Assistant Dean for Preparatory and Community Engagement (CCM Prep). The Assistant Dean is responsible for the artistic, educational, and administrative leadership of 70 faculty/staff and 1,000 students of all ages. Reporting to the Dean, the Assistant Dean for CCM Prep is a member of CCM's administrative leadership team, is a creative problem-solver and collaborator, and is responsible for all community education programs, personnel, budget management, and representing CCM Prep to collegiate, local, regional and national arts organizations.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a diverse team of faculty and administrative staff at CCM Prep, working in consultation with the CCM Dean and Community Partners to provide programming and activities that support the operations, missions, and strategic plans of CCM Prep, CCM, and the University of Cincinnati.
  • Lead and manage curricular development of existing programs in music, drama, musical theater, and ballet. Explore new pathways and partnerships that will grow and enhance the curriculum and serve the community.
  • Oversee summer programs (youth, teen, adult), including high school intensives that bring prospective applicants to CCM and present recruiting opportunities.
  • Regularly update and asses the strategic direction of CCM Prep, ensuring alignment with the strategic plans of CCM and the University of Cincinnati.
  • Manage and report on enrollment projections, size and scope of programs, and revenue generation.
  • Oversee annual operating budget, tuition, and salaries. Award financial aid and scholarships.
  • Work with the CCM Business Office and Human Resources on faculty and staff hiring.
  • Work with CCM Development and Alumni Relations Office on fundraising opportunities and strategy.
  • Work with CCM Public Information Office on marketing and branding of CCM Prep and the integration of CCM Prep into general CCM marketing.
  • Serve on the Dean's Leadership Council and represent CCM and CCM Prep to University of Cincinnati constituents as appropriate.
  • Meet regularly with faculty chairs/coordinators, staff and relevant others to ensure smooth operations of the CCM Prep programs.
  • Develop and nurture student growth opportunities with faculty leaders.

Required Education

Master's degree in arts education, arts administration, performance or related arts field; proficiency in the arts as a performer, director, composer, technician, arts administrator or related arts field.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading a diverse arts/arts education program(s)/organization(s)
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and/or faculty management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
